IRC

Jay started using IRC in 1994. "Philosophy" was a channel frequently visited. Jay and Jonas used to chat some when Jay studied in the US, but the time difference (7-8 hours) made it a bit unpractical. Jay most often used 'Socrates' as a nickname. Extract from a typical log from 1995 (added English):

[DISP-Socrates]     jag gick upp sju i morse (I got up seven this morning)

[DISP-Socrates]     jepp (yup)
[DISP-Socrates][Socrates]     men jag är ut tråkad (but I'm bored)
